Custom Color Matching
Extensions that do not match your natural hair look obvious. At MAK Salon, we custom color match every set of extensions to your exact shade, including any highlights or dimensional color. If needed, we can color the extensions before installation so the blend is invisible.
What to Expect at Your Consultation
The consultation is free. We assess your hair's density, texture, and condition, discuss how much length or volume you want, review photos of your goal, and recommend the best method. We also cover the maintenance schedule, home care, and realistic expectations for how extensions will look and feel. Extensions are priced at the consultation, by method and amount of hair.
Extensions are not right for everyone. If your natural hair is severely damaged or thinning in certain areas, we may recommend a repair treatment first. We will always be upfront about what is and is not possible.
Maintenance and Longevity
Both tape-in and hand-tied extensions need regular maintenance appointments, and we set the timing with you at your consultation. During maintenance, the extensions are removed, your natural hair is washed and assessed, and the extensions are re-installed higher up as your hair grows (a move-up). A well-cared-for set lasts through several move-ups.
Home care includes using sulfate-free shampoo, brushing with a loop brush, braiding before bed, and avoiding heavy conditioner near the tapes and beads. Your stylist will walk you through everything at your appointment.
Tape-In vs Hand-Tied Extensions

Tape-in extensions
Thin, pre-taped wefts bonded to small sections of your natural hair. They lay flat against the head, feel lightweight, and are the quicker of the two methods to install. Tape-ins are moved up as your hair grows, and they are a great entry point for first-time extension clients.

Hand-tied extensions
A beaded row system with wefts hand-sewn onto a thin thread anchored by micro beads. This method distributes weight more evenly across the head and works especially well for fine or thin hair because it causes less tension. Hand-tied extensions need regular maintenance too.
